South Manchester (Stockport) based Vita Safety successfully concluded a strategic review in 2024 of the health and safety arrangements for social housing provider, Walsall Housing Group (whg).
Our consultants worked in collaboration with whg’s health and safety function and governance experts. The review aimed to verify the current arrangements in place, gain an insight into areas which are performing well and where additional resource is required to strengthen risk management.
Vita Safety’s Managing Director Ian Hutchings explained the approach:
“To provide a clear picture of the current health and safety arrangements and provide future resource options, the work was carried out over three distinct phases. A review of existing health and safety management system documentation was undertaken, followed by interviews with directors and managers. This allowed the compiling of a management report to provide clear findings and recommended actions for whg whilst being aligned to the ISO 45001 framework, a recognised international standard for occupational health and safety management.
“By identifying areas which require additional support, and highlighting areas of good practice, we proposed an enhanced structure and competency framework to support the future strategy for the organisation.”
Following the conclusion of the strategic review, Vita Safety’s report highlighted good practice present, along with suggestions for further improvement.
